Design With Nature

Service nature through analysis of the built environment.

Global warming, if left unchecked, will result in the world becoming uninhabitable, or at least greatly deteriorated, in the near future. However, buildings and the built environment can reduce the global warming effect and environmental pollution. This can be accomplished by reducing their energy consumption or by choosing materials that are less harmful to the environment. Buildings that take steps to reduce their consumption are generally referred to as “Green Buildings”. However, there are other ways for buildings to positively impact the environment, and this is by direct interactions with the environment through a type of building called “living buildings”. While green buildings are good in various ways, living buildings can be even better. A living building not only reduces its initial impact on the environment, but can actually create a net positive impact on the environment over time. This is a necessity as the world population continues to grow and more people will need houses to live in or buildings to work in.
